Tightens up the action. A little extra weight up front. Good deal for the price.

The spring you have to get with this is open on one end and closed on the other. If you put the open end on first your slide will jam. I did it cause I was not pay attention. If it happens to you get a pilers and pull the guide rod until your gun comes apart. Other than that felt the recoil reduce and gun seems to cycle fast good product for the price.

DIDNT THINK THE GUIDE ROD WOULD MAKE A DIFFERENCE BU IT REALLY DOES I CANT BELIEVE HOW MUCH THIS HELPS AND IT LOOKS GOOD TOO.

The guide rod is great because with the 22# spring, the felt recoil is reduced and I can recover onto the target faster.

This and a 20lbs spring for factory ammo made felt recoil less and muzzle flip dropped by almost half. Best upgrade under $50.

Shooting a XD40 and installed one of these rods with a 20# Wolff spring and it NOTICEABLY reduces the sharp recoil impulse of the gun. Allows me to get back on target much faster. One of the best upgrades you can get for your XD- hands down. As another person posted within their review, MAKE SURE YOU INSTALL THE WOLFF Spring in the proper orientation. The closed end of the spring goes onto the rod and the open end goes into the slide. If you install it backwards and the spring binds during pistol disassembly, whack the back of the pistol sharply with a rubber mallet and the slide should come off (after the takedown lever is up and the trigger has been pulled!)

I got one of these guide rods and the #20lb recoil spring for my XD40 and it looks great. Especially with my polished barrel. I haven’t had the chance to fire it yet because of the weather where I live but will let you know how it works out. I would highly recommend this upgrade. This guide rod seriously helps with muzzle flip. This is one of my favorite mods done to my XD9. You can feel the difference right away just make sure you install the spring properly.
